Mountain magic at Wild Basin Lodge

In early August of this year, I had the privilege of collaborating with my friend Mike Thurk to photograph the wedding of his friends Ian and Grace. Having always looked up to Mike, especially his knack for storytelling and powerful composition, it was unbelievable that he invited me along to this special day.

When I got to the venue, I was impressed with how cozy Wild Basin Lodge was while still providing plenty of indoor and outdoor space so it never felt overly crowded with guests. I loved their selection of two different ceremony sites - one right on the river, adjacent to the lodge, and the other about a five minute walk away with a wood arch and huge grass field. They decided to have their ceremony on the river which was perfect for accommodating guests. Plus, the sound of the rushing water was MAGICAL.

As the second photographer, you never know how involved you'll get to be with the couple. Mike and I were able to really collaborate with each other to provide a well rounded story of the day from two unique perspectives. It was such a fun and different experience for me! Grace and Ian quickly took me in as part of the wedding party, inviting me to eat, drink, take breaks, and have fun throughout the day. The trust and kindness shared between all of us made for a truly special day.

There were so many little details that made Ian and Grace's wedding truly their own. Here are some glimpses from this earthy, romantic, and wonderfully intimate wedding day...
